It's only three weeks since I bought it, so I assume later model envy 13 x2. I just tried what you suggested and it didn't work. I tried touching the windows button under the screen both right after the power button and holding it while hitting the power button. It still powers on normally. No bios.I assume you leve the physical keyboard detached forthis?
HP tech support spent over an hour with me yesterday. Nothing we try gets me into the bios. The machone otherwise seems to function great.

I also wrote up a detailed way to update the bios to f.14 if you are having trouble using the bios boot loader.

.14 helps a little with the battery dock drain issue.

Having to use fn with the functions keys is WHY I want to get into the bios. I have to add fn to shortcut keys. For example: on all other previous computers when I hit f5 in Powerpoint it starts the slideshow. Currently, with this computer, I have to add fn to the f5 keystroke to get the same results. I want to change that setting in the bios. Because of that, I've also tried hitting fn with f10 on start-up. Still no bios. I've tried more than a dozen ways of trying to access the bios. No luck.
