About half of the time when I wake up my HP envy X2 128gb version from sleep the touch screen doesn't respond. The mouse pad and keyboard usually work but the tousch screen wont work again until it is restarted.
I took a look in Device Manager while the touchscreen wasnt working and I see that under User Interface Devices I have a I2C HID Device that has a yellow warning sign. When I open it under Device Status it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Anyone have any information about how to fix this?

I had already tried updating the Synaptics drivers and it didnt fix the problem.
I noticed a few times that when i woke up the PC from sleep that Google Talk would be stuck using about 40% of the processer usage according to task manager. Usually I would just close and re-open Google talk and it would not be stuck using the processor anymore.
A couple of days ago I closed Google Talk and didn't restart the program, over the past 2 days I haven't had a single time when the touch screen was un-responsive after waking from sleep.
I didn't mention it before, but I was having a similar problem with the rotation sensor, after waking from sleep, it would intermittenetly not work and I could also see in device manager that a different I2C HID device had a code 43 error. Also since closing google talk I haven't had the rotation sensor freeze.
Like I said its only been a couple of days so it might still happen, but 2 days is the longest I can ever remember going without this problem.
mfhengst, do you have google talk installed on your laptop?

Hey anap40,
I'm sorry you're running into this wake from sleep issue. It's good that you went into Device Manager to investigate. Errors in Device Manager are normally solved with driver updates (especially cod 43), so we need to make sure your drivers are up-to-date, specifically the BIOS.
I need to know your full x2 product number. Here are the steps to find your product number. FN + ESC is the quickest way to pull it up. FN + ESC will also provide your current BIOS version which I will need too.

I didn't receive a private message and your product number isn't really protected information (your serial number is though).
I did check the 6 models that were made available in the U.S. (If you got your Envy x2 from outside the U.S., let me know) and all of them are at BIOS F.08. Here's a link to that latest version.
Download and install that. Your x2 will restart on its own. Allow it to restart and once it's back at the Start screen go ahead and see if the symptoms still exist. Let me know the results 🙂

Thanks for the help. I did get my X2 in the US, the product number is c7n83a
I'll try to BIOS update and get back to you after a few days (like I said the problem is intermittent and it seems like it tends to become unresponsive more commonly after it has been asleep for several hors or more)

I installed the new BIOS last night.
When I woke up this morning and openned up the laptop to wake it from sleep the touch screen was unresponsive. I had to use the mousepad to unlock the lock screen then go into Device Manager and then disable and re-enable the I2C HID device that ahd a Code 43 to get the touschscreen working again.
So updating the BIOS did not fix the problem, it is exactly like it was before.

I want to see if there's a service that may be preventing it from working properly when waking from sleep. To test this, we'll need to Disable all non-system-critical services to see if the issue occurs.
If it does not, that means one of those services that was disabled, is causing the issue.
If the touchscreen is still unresponsive after sleep with all of those non-critical services disabled, then it may be something with the registry or the hardware.
Here are the steps to disable non-critical services:
Windows + Q to bring up Search
Type 'msconfig' and press Enter
Click the Services Tab
Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box
Click the Disable All button
Click Apply and Restart
Once it restarts let it go into sleep mode and then wake it back up from sleep mode and test the touchscreen. Do this a couple of times, if you have time. (When you're done troubleshooting, you'll have to go back into msconfig and re-enable all of those non-critical services, apply and restart.)
