So this onez an old post but i would like to share how i recovered this error. Just go to the side bar and click settings and next click Change PC settings..

There you find Wireless on the left panel list.
U can turn the wifi on.
And there your pc is back in action.

What rock did you crawl out from under??? Of all the idiotic recommendations, Duh! That is the first thing you check! If it were only that easy I would be singing HP's praises from every rooftop because besides not being able to use the most basic of functions of a laptop, the internet, it works great (Oh forgot to mention the springy keyboard on the left hand side)

This is NOT a solution!!!!!!!!

Well, I fail to see how how not answering many people's requests for help (or how the only "resolution" provided involves permanent disabling of bluetooth support) fosters a healthy discussion thread...but I guess that's why I'm not a forum moderator.  At least I'm happy that this thread is moderated, even if the concerns are not addressed.

Please excuse my rude comments. I am speaking out of frustration because of the lack of a resolution to this wide spread problem. By the way, as was mentioned, this issue is not solved and I feel it should NOT be marked as such. This gives a false impression to many sincere HP customers using their valuable time to try and find a fix for this problem. If they use the suggested solution it creates another problem of not being able to use bluetooth. And so the wheel goes round and round, more frustrated customers flooding the support boards looking for help. Sigh!

The latest BIOS Update has taken care of the incessant wifi drops I have been experiencing for the last 3 months.

I got it to work by:

1.  Going into safe mode.

2.  Uninstalling the drivers

3.  Going to the HP Website and downloading the HP Driver for the wireless.

4.  ALSO DID A BIOS UPDATE, which had a patch for the wireless on my machine (HP Envy 17)

5.  Also read an article that suggested that you should disable the Blue tooth

I just returned an Envy 15t with the Qualcom Atheros 9485 wifi card. The Envy 15t would stay connected to about 4 feet of the router but became unstable beyond that.  I was on the phone endlessly with the HP tech support and they were unable to get the wifi connection to work correctly.  Tried to reload bios, drivers, reset the machine and endless other things non of which worked.  I went to every coffee shop and library around to try their wifi connections and I was never able to even connect. I came to the end of my 21 day window to return the computer since it still wasn't working, it went back.  It is a real shame since the Envy 15t is one of the few computers that comes with an Intel 4710MQ processor.  The price point for the machine is great and the performance is top notch but a laptop that isn't portable is just a tiny desktop.  Hopefully HP can get this resolved but I believe it will take a new wifi card.

Well I'll be dam$%$%ed.  I have been beating my head against a wall because of my crappy connection; changed internet provider (probably needed to anyway), spent an hour or two on the phone with them because I can't stay connected. had them come out to my house and "check" and now I'm out again on that laptop.  My old dinasor of a laptop can still get connected, with no problem.  Buy not this expensive Envy 17 with touchsmart.  I use bluetooth for a wireless mouse, so now I learn that's the problem and HP has no solution.  Unacceptable if that is still true.  Any technical updates here from the experts?  Thanks.
