Follow up note if you get the crucial ssd. Be sure to get the Storage Executive from the crucial site, not the micron site. I previously used and tested the Micron version. It causes black screens and delays in opeing the start menu and accessing the taskbar items. The modified Crucial edition has no issues.
Grab the official crucial version here: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-storage-executive

First let me say thanks to all who contributed information about installing M.2 SSDs. I finally got my Samsung 960 Pro 512GB SSD and installed it. The toughest thing about the process was disassembling the case and even that wasn't too bad. It initially wasn't recognized when I booted up the first time but I rebooted and it was found. I used the Samsung drive cloning software to clone the original hard drive onto the Samsung SSD and that worked without a problem. I'm using the Samsung SSD as my boot drive.
So let me share some benchmark results as reported by CyrstalDiskMark 5. The results are similar to what were posted earlier for the Samsung 960 Evo and although very good, I have to say the results are extremely disappointing when comparing to Samsung's published specs. The read speed in particular is only a little more than 50% of what Samsung claims. So either Samsung's specs are not achievable in real world conditions or maybe there are hardware limitations with the HP laptop that prevent it from getting the most out of the drive. I really don't know the answer and haven't put any thought into it, maybe I'm not running the proper benchmark. Actually, Samsung Magician reports similar results and indicates that all is well with the drive. I just wanted to update those who were interested that you may want to reconsider spending so much on a drive when you won't get the advertised performance.

I am planning to install m.2 SSD in my HP Envy x360 M6 aq105dx. My friend has a spare Intel 2500 series m.2 SSD. Will it work with the m.2 slot provided? (This SSD is MLC type)

I dont think so the M.2 port for the HP M6 aq1xx is PCI and your Intel card is SATA. Also the pin config is different but this might not matter. as discussed erlier in the thread. even if it did work the speeds would be much better if you used a PCI x4 type card.
Read through the whole thread and it may help you more.
Hope this helps.
