After all it is offered by HP , living no other way, with the purchase of the PapTop in the first place.

Sorry, but I don't have very good news for you ...
If the Recovery information is corrupted, and it looks like that from the errors you are getting, there is nothing we can do from here to recover the PC.
What you would need is HP Recovery Media but HP only stocks that for 3-5 years, and your PC being Vista-era PC, is a lot older than that.
Since HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you should check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/Good Luck
