Staff at our office have received from HP Services, replament power cords for their notebook computers. The recall information on your site informs us that if LS-15 is molded on to the plug then it needs to be replaced. My question is why did HP send us power 4 sets of power plugs all with LS-15 molded onto the plug? If these plugs were these sent in errorhow do we send back the defective plugs and get the new plugs? Thank you. Bogdan Kowalski

This information has been posted before, but let me post it again.
LS-15 cords are a commonly used power cord. On the wrap around tag with the bar code there is a part number (213349-001) then Product of China and then a 4 digit code.
That 4 digit code is the date the cord was manufactured, ww=work week and yy=year.
The affected ones have the date code range of:
3210-5210 for 2010
0111-5311 for 2011
0112-0812 for 2012
All other cords that are LS-15 and outside of these dates are good. All non LS-15 cords are good. Any with a “Flag” attached to the wrap around we are replacing as they proceeded the wrap around cords and did not have a date code on them but were used in 2010 before the wrap around flag-less tags.

I based my question solely on the infomation at the top of this forum where it shows the plug clearyly with the LS-15 marking. There is no mention of he wrap around tag in that description of the how to identify a defective plug. May I suggest adding the information you sent me to further identify defective plugs in particular the codes on the wrap around tag and how to determine from the the code if a particular plug is defective? Hi!
This an inquiry. My hp power charger adapter no is an LS - 18 not LS - 15 as described earlier. However the charger is blown. I want to know how to manually repair it even if it means changing the burnt capacitor or whatever the issue is. Want to know how to repair it myself rather than replacement or is there no way to open and repair it?

I ordered my replacement power cord on 10/13/14 and it still says awaiting shipment. I need the cord to charge my laptop, any idea on when I can expect shipment so I can use my laptop again. I got bills I gotta pay and using my cell isn't exactly my optimum choice. HP, get off your slack butts and get something done.

Only found out about this today after one of the power leads had already failed. Not happy at all that there was no proactive communication of this and the potential danger of the lead causing a fire. I did have a lead from another HP laptop I could use but now have to switch between the two chargers - charging one up whilst the opther laptiop drains and switching between them constantly (as often have to use both at the same time !).
My concern now is that HP will be so overwhelmed with orders that it will take ages before it is sorted out!

Is it possible that the actual adapter itself does always get hot. Generally mine always feel quite warm. I don't think the power cord problem made the adapter overheat - it was the power cord itself that potentially overheated.

I believe I have/had the power cord that is being recalled, however I've moved countries and do not have access to the cord.
About a year ago, the adapter box burnt a hole in a leather couch... so I stopped using it and it may even have been discarded. I've been sharing one ever since. I cannot honestly say Yes to the question "Does the molded mark include LS-15?" because I don't have it infront of me. Can I still get a replacement?
