Sir, I have Compaq 621 Laptop. From Last 1 Months I have a problem in starting the laptop, each time I switch it on (plugged or unplugged) Before login screen to come it turn off suddenly and leave me puzzled.

When i restart my computer it recommends me to run system recovery because of windows unable to logon. Sometimes it display success but from past 2 weeks it also don't complete and my laptop turnoff suddenly. after repetitive try to normally start and running system recovery at a point of time it starts.

I have tried to Hibernate, it successfully hibernates and starts good. but when it comes to normal shutdown and re-start it just made me more frustrated. and now since i cannot hibernate all time, because ones during hibernate it just goes unresponsive and after 15-20 minutes i have to force shutdown it by pressing power button and when again this problem of not starting to logon screen came, i feared of choosing hibernate as a preferred option. From the Past 5 Days i have not shutdown my Laptop.

Please help.. I don't want to loose my data.

HI raj_rajwithu ;

Thank you for your reply.

I understand that you have a startup issue.

I am sending you a link to "Troubleshooting an Overheating and Auto Shutdown Issue' click here.

I would also run the HP support as assistant. to have it check for errors and or updates.click here.

I would also run the "HP System Diagnostics (UEFI)" click here to check for hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Hi raj_rajwithu:

Thank you for your reply.

No the utilities will not harm your computer.

I am not sure what tools you are referring to in f2.

These utilities will help determine what the issue is.

Please let me know the results.

Hello Mr. Kyle, I am using a Compaq Presario cq62 103tu. It tends to shutdown after 8 to 10 mins of starting up and doesn't turn on for the next half hour. Suspecting it to be an overheating issue, I cleaned the vents, fan and even replaced the thermal grease. But the issue still persists. On using a cooling pad the laptop runs completely fine. Since I cannot carry the cooling pad everywhere, Is there any way I can increase the fan speed of the laptop to a 100% at all times? Also I tried changing the cooling policy under power option on windows 7 (64 bit) but to no avail. The 'fan always on' option is enabled under bios. Also speed fan or any such software has been of no help either. Kindly help me out with your expertise. Eagerly waiting your response.

Hi Rohith2605,

I understand your computer shutdown after 8 to 10 minutes of starting up and doesn't turn on for the next half hour. Here is a document on overheating that should help resolve your issues. In this document is some assistance with cleaning fans and the processor.
