I happened to stumble across a solution that fixed graphics glitches for me. In windows mobility center I pushed disable external display. It fixed problems such as brightness control does not always work, a blank screen after awakening from sleepmode, and it is more responsive and less laggy. I have not tried it on heavy graphic games yet though. It also made catalyst control center less buggy.

I'm not sure if its a solution, just try it if it works.

Runs alot better, but i have to manualy disable and enable graphcis cards if i want to switch graphics. Seems like a temporary solution till hp can get drivers that work, or unless someone mods it.

HP , PLEASE RELEASE AN UPDATED GRAPHICE DRIVER!!! Its about time you catch up , its almost 2012 and my DV7t 4100 with Radeon 5650 is stilllllllllll running old drivers while aTI /AMD keeps releasing new updates every few months. I mean really??

Hi all, for those of you using recent HPs, HP did release updated AMD Radeon Drivers that work for computers that also have the integrated Intel HD chip.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/556469-drivers-hp-dv6-4xxx-dv6-6xxx-dv7-5x...

First uninstall your current drivers from device manager (right-click/uninstall) and then install 8.882.2.2000 (AMD). If you want you can then install Catalyst 11.12 over these drivers next.  I did this with my HP Envy 14-2XXX and all works well.

Any owners of the DV7t-se CTO 4100 laptop? with the ati radeon HD 5650 1gb ram??
well, i could have sworrrrrrn i had switchable graphics...but upon checking my drivers in device manager, as well as in catalyst control center, it appears my system is dedicated graphics , not switchable graphics...I wish i had realized this sooner.  so i just went on AMDs website and downloaded and installed the latest Catalyst control center 11.12 and latest drivers 8.920 , .................everything ran smoothly installing and drivers work well  ,slightly better performance than the latest drivers on Hp's support page for the HP dv7t 4100CTO ..........
Im playing arkham city at full specs , highest detail ,and its running smoothly  at 1600x900 resolution.

I'd like to hear from other dv7t Se 4100 owners , if when you go under device manager-->display adapters  what do you see?  do you see HD radeon 5650 , ANDDDDDDD intel HD graphics drivers? (2 separate drivers means you have switchable graphics) ...also if you right click on your desktop you should see below the catalyst control center something that says switchable graphics........ if you only see radeon under device manage-->display adapters , u have dedicated graphics like me. and can easily upgrade to latest STOCK AMD drivers with no worries. let me know, see here for details http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02731962

Ive had this problem before, its just a glitch that occured when installing drivers. It only displayed one card when i disabled one card and tried installing a driver. It fixed when I cleaned my graphics driver and reinstalled it.

Also its rather annoying that all the dv6/dv7 computers use the exact same driver.

Just do a clean install of drivers, and it should fix itself.

yea , no its not a glitch .   I've used many diagnostic tools to idenfity the graphics controllers on the mother board and chipset which show none , only the radeon is identified as the graphics processor on the system.

I also did a final conclusive check by using intel's system identification utility , and speaking with a technician who identified that the DV7t SE 4100 uses the intel mobile 5 series chipset.  (which you can confirm in device manager under system devices (you will see intel(R) 5 series/3400 series chipset famiiy. alternatively you can use intel's chipset identification utility here www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-009245.htm

which intel has confirmed has no on board graphics crontroller or GPU .   see here to check your system
once you know the chipset family that's in your laptop . http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-009481.htm

So , if you're not on the switchable graphics (which is my opinion when it comes to gaming  is not preferred) you can just update to the newest catalyst AMD graphics drivers and get the most of out your HD5650.

Well, after a long struggle, I been able to fix my problems, thank you Jesus!  The problem started when (two weeks after I bought my notebook) the HP Assistent upated the intell display drivers and caused my computer to crash.  Appearently the updated intell drivers were not compatable with the pervious AMD drivers: thanks HP for the recommed crash:smileysad:

This is what I ended up doing to fix the problem.

Updated the bios in safemode (computer would not start anyother way), and then went in the bios and put display option to (Fixed). This did not totally fixe the proplem but I could at least start the computer about half the time in normal mode without it crashing.  Next I found this website (http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/556469-drivers-hp-dv6-4xxx-dv6-6xxx-dv7-5x... )  This site has all the lastest drives for the HP notebooks listed in the address.   It has more than the Display drivers.  I updated all the drivers for my model and then lastely updated the latest AMD drivers.  Everything seems to be working good, and I might say even better than before!

I hope this helps, it help me anyways.
