I've posted this before, and will now do so again.

HP doesn't make a new driver. They never have, and they never will. I've talked to Tier 1 support, Tier 2 support, even got transferred to a dev department a few times. The final answer is: it's not happening. The time and money they would have to put into it aren't worth it to them.

I found custom drivers, loaded them, and they've been running like a charm for almost a year now.

Hi Drekmar,

maybe, when you were installing it, you were not running ATI GPU...

My HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition has the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650.  The last driver version released by HP is v8.771.1.0  AMD-ATI's latest mobility Radeon driver version is v11.9.  Subsequent to the latest updates, my video converter software and some other video-related software won't require work...and I get error messages telling me to upgrade my video card driver!  I downloaded the current driver version 11.9 directly fom ATI, but it refuses to install and gives an error message saying contact manfacturer for help.  Talk about a Catch 22!

HP, you put an excellent video card in your Pavilion notebook...but now you diminish that video card by not providing updated drivers!  Why?

Try these: http://www.station-drivers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=3553&hilit=ati2mtag_Manhattan_PXAI#p12870

If not, follow the link to download, look for this version of the driver through the search engines.

Good luck!

So basically, no matter how many times I post this, nobody will ever read it?

@houseofbacon

People are reading but most seem too fkn lazy (same with most forums) to actually read previous posts or use the search function. Many of us read responses but don't always comment, like me. Believe me, we appreciate everyone's help and contributions regarding these hp drivers.

Oh good, my efforts aren't being totally wasted then.

Hello, Oshea!

I know, that alot of time passed, but it seems, I have the same problem, as was yours. My HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 with the only ATI Radeon 5650 is crashed after I had tried to update video drivers. Now I can't turn it on normally, display crashes after 5-30 seconds after power on. Display crashes even in BIOS, not only when trying to run Windows! Do you have the same sypmtoms or your display works well in BIOS?

Thank you before,

Andrew

Not everyone wants to run hacked up drivers that have issues of their own.

Hopefully this problem disappears when AMD starts taking over driver distribtuion and not leaving it to the lazy OEMs.
