Mine is 5/23/2013, driver version 13.101.0.0

Guys, just sent the old drivers to Jonathan11 that our buddy Preston made a while back. They do contain modded drivers (including intel I believe) and may be the pre req to being able to simply install the AMD drivers nowadays. I don't remember to be honest.

Jonathan11 will be the re-confirmation for this.

Thank you, but I don't see how installing the drivers "over" the old drivers is going to work. I have attempted to install the 13.6 CCC and this causes my computer act like it does not have any graphics card in at all.

I would have the Intel integrated card, but I got an AMD proccessor so that is why I have an AMD integrated card.

it is an intergrated ati/amd 4250, while the 5650 is dedicated chip.

Honestly, I don't know why it would work in theory. Computer science and debugging is def not my area of expertise. Whatever the underlying issue is/was, I can definitely confirm that my computer now accepts the CCC packages directly from the AMD site now.

I think it had to do with changing some of the integrated chip settings to allow for standalone installations. The old drivers came packaged together (Intel integrated + ATI 5650) and forced a check to ensure the installation package had both intel and ATI drivers each time someone tried to install. Maybe the modded package isolated each driver so that they can be updated individually instead of cross-checking between each other every single time. This is just a guess though I seem to remember it being something like this back when I was heavily searching for a solution.

Keep in mind too that the v11.8 modded drivers that @Prston made a while back was for the 5650 with an integrated INTEL chip, probably won't work with your AMD integrated 4250.

@jonathan11 check your PM... I sent the link

i have installed the regular  ccc from the website, but like i said before it pumps out more heat idle than running a graphic intensive game. it automatically disables the intergrated chip, but i have manually disabled it also.  i know this may be asking much considering hp just left this and its alot of work, but do you know if anyone could make a mod driver that is current driver for 5650 while having the 4250 legacy using the switchable graphics driver as a foundation?  im just like everyone else, just want my laptop to be able to run at its fullest potential.    i got this laptop second hand from brother so it has some miles on it, but im determined to make it run better and smoother than he was able to make it. he didnt care much about driver updates, keeping start up clean, and all that.

@Minnick,  holy crap it worked.  I installed the 13.6 beta amd catalyst with drivers (not just drivers its a 100 something MB file) installed it and now for the first time since I bought my envy have current drivers, the difference it makes is incredible.  Computer runs much less hot while gaming.  And I play wow among other games, and the fps would crash to 5 or 6 unplayable on big content with all settings as low as could be.  Now it plays at high settings rarely dipping below 30 fps.  Its like a new comp for gaming , it handles so much more and better.

Anyways thank you so much minnick for posting to try that , i'd tried so many things including just trying to download certain catalyst amd versions , i tried leshcats which worked , but were unstable, and he pm'ed me saying that he had never seen much success with his modded drivers on envys.   So yeah I didn't try the modded drivers you sent me because I didn't need to, its  pretty awesome.

To others trying, try it a few times, the first time i tried installin it froze on "recognizing hardware" i had to force restart, and tried again and it just went, couldn't believe it.  I was installing from default amd /intel drivers on the hd 5650 gpu

also for laptop users that game,  a free program called throttlestop did a to boost my perfomance.  Apparently alot of newer laptops will throttle down performance during very intensive programs (like games)  and this program prevents that among other things, gives you a lot of control over your cpu

@jonathan11 glad it worked out. Just to clarify for everyone else, you didn't need the modded drivers right? Just attempt the install with the amd drivers a couple times.

As an fyi for best performance of the card you need to make sure "powerplay" is enabled in Catalyst Control Center and that the maximize performance setting is on.

Also, if you want to boost performance more you can download and use a program called MSI Afterburner. It's a software over clock program (different from a hardware over clock where you have to physically solder and alter the card). I use version 2.1.0. I remember having to try several versions of the MSI program to get it to work and only 2.1 worked for me. Anyway, if you want an even smoother FPS this is the way to go. As far as I know the 5650 is underclocked by default at 550 mhz core clock and 800 mhz memory clock. I push mine to 715 mhz core and 900 mhz memory which provides a definite improvement over normal performance. Keep in mind that the program does take a few steps to set up correctly but you should be able to look that up pretty easily. If not lmk and I'll try and help.

Ah just realized you mentioned Throttlestop. Sounds similar to MSI Afterburner. As long as you can change the clock frequencies you're getting the same result. Make sure to monitor your comps temperature when hardcore gaming for hours. It should never get close to 100 degrees Celsius. The highest mine went was 85ish. Just be aware of how hot the thing gets.
