I did some research and it appears that the HP Pavilion DV7 has a tendency to blow the GPU which causes this issue

Don't really know were to post this question so im sorry if this is the wrong place.. ok so when I turn my dv7 laptop on it goes to the choose an operating system screen but won't let me pick anything I touch the tab to move it to Windows memory diagnostic and it won't always let me pick it when it does let me pick it it will start to diagnoses it then stops and starts beeping and keeps beeping all this happened overnight. At first it would go on and just beep for a few seconds then start up and work fine then one night it wouldn't even do that now it just stays on the choose operating system screen and every once in a while it flickers when im on that screen and goes the the Windows diagnostic one itself and ill hit enter and still wont let it diagnoses it and sometimes it starts and only beeps. Could some give me any ideas on what to do kinda need my laptop and can't be losing any of my pictures there's pictures on it I can't replaceof my son who passed away a few year's back any help would be greatly appreciated big time... thanks bob

How many beeps do you hear. Could you possibly cross-reference the number of beeps to the troubleshooting on this HP document? If you can, please follow the troubleshooting steps listed. If the issue is not resolved, I would consider reinstalling Windows. For information on performing a system recovery, please look at this document.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm only here to help!
Mario
