I did some research and it appears that the HP Pavilion DV7 has a tendency to blow the GPU which causes this issue

Don't really know were to post this question so im sorry if this is the wrong place.. ok so when I turn my dv7 laptop on it goes to the choose an operating system screen but won't let me pick anything I touch the tab to move it to Windows memory diagnostic and it won't always let me pick it when it does let me pick it it will start to diagnoses it then stops and starts beeping and keeps beeping all this happened overnight. At first it would go on and just beep for a few seconds then start up and work fine then one night it wouldn't even do that now it just stays on the choose operating system screen and every once in a while it flickers when im on that screen and goes the the Windows diagnostic one itself and ill hit enter and still wont let it diagnoses it and sometimes it starts and only beeps. No I haven't added anything new to it. It hasn't let me update anything in a few months now every time I tried it would tell me different error codes. Under the battery it says custmodle dv7-6166nr and it has windows 7 home premium installed. I can't turn it on to get anymore information. Unless you know of other places for me to look for more information if you need more.

Thank you for the information. Before we do anything else, I believe you should test the hardware of the computer. To troubleshoot the hardware, please reference this HP document for the proper hardware diagnostics: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443317

Please utilize all the diagnostics, and take of note of any failures. Please respond with your results when you complete these diagnostics.

That did nothing won't do anything when I hit the f2 button or any button at all when I do get it to do something it just beeps at me.
HP Recommended

How many beeps do you hear. Could you possibly cross-reference the number of beeps to the troubleshooting on this HP document? If you can, please follow the troubleshooting steps listed. If the issue is not resolved, I would consider reinstalling Windows. For information on performing a system recovery, please look at this document.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm only here to help!
