Hi!

I have a problem with my new laptop. The Wireless Button is working good, so I can switch on/off the wifi and bluetooth, but it's LED does not go to orange when I am turn it off. When I power on the laptop the led is orange, but when the Windows starts loading it turn to white.

Can anyone help me to fix this problem?

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64

I don't know how you figured that out, but it worked for me, I too was a little leary on just installing a driver right away I didn't know if it was going to do much for me.  Then I went and disabled the bluetooth and instantly could see that it was working.  Enabled the bluetooth and instantly stopped working.  So I decided I would try the driver and would figure out how to correct it if it didn't work, and it did.  Now after installing the driver, the light works as it should, and the bluetooth and everything else with the computer is working correctly again.  Thanks for the genius advice.

Hello There,

I've solved my problem - may solve yours as well:

It was the Mediatek (Railink) Blutooth driver (even though my BT was off all the time).

I used a windows 8.1 driver from HP (although not directly under my laptop): search "Mediatek Bluetooth Software Driver"

SP64041.exe at

Enjoy

Hi Spatrik and henyo_2,

I will be happy to help with your issue with the Wireless light. Spatrik, you mentioned when Windows is loading it turns white does it stay white after it has finished loading? Are either of you having any issues with your wireless connection? Is it staying connected while the lights aren't working properly?

Spatrik, can I get your product number? The links below will show you how to find that.

Hi BHK6,

My comments in blue.

I will be happy to help with your issue with the Wireless light. Spatrik, you mentioned when Windows is loading it turns white does it stay white after it has finished loading? Are either of you having any issues with your wireless connection? - Sometimes my wifi drops connection with my access point. This does not happen before. Is it staying connected while the lights aren't working properly? - refer to my previous comment.

My issue is that when I press the f12 button to do airplane mode, the light does not turn orange anymore but stays white.

Hope you can assist.

Regards,

henyo_2

Hi henyo_2,

When you turn on the airplane mode are you still able to go online or does it actually shut off the wifi? I want to figure out if the airplane mode is not working or just the light.

Since you just upgraded let's also make sure that all the drivers are updated on your PC. Click on the link below and then click on the Scan Now button.

Hi henyo_2,

Thank you for your response. I have a couple of things for you. Let's start by making sure all the drivers are up to date. Click on the link below and then on Scan Now, it will scan your computer and see if there are any updates available.

You can do a Network Check using the HP Support Assistant. The link below will show you how to do that.

Hi BHK6,

I clicked the 1st link but it says "We were unable to verify your product". :(.

I used support assistant and an update of the wireless button driver for windows 8. The problem is it does not install via support assistant

Hi henyo_2,

So the HP Support Assistant did find a wireless update but it wouldn't install. Try doing a Windows Update. The link below will show you how, go to Do I need to check for updates?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/windows-update-faq

You are not alone in this issue I have seen on other computer after the update. I imagine that this will be resolved through an update in the near future. Let me know if the update works.

Can you go into your device manager and check under network adapters and let me know what you have listed there. The link below will show you how to access device manager if you need it.

Hi BHK6,

My product number: 5CD2507PT2

My WiFi is works correctly, but the button's led always white, so when I go to airplain mode, it is still white. When I power on the laptop, it is orange, but when the Windows 8.1 x64 start loading it is turn to white.

I downloaded the HP Support Assistant and I updated my drivers. (but i did the update when i upgraded to 8.1, but i downloaded the drivers from the official hp website)

My network adapters in the device manager:

I think the Pavilion G6 users need new HP Wireless Button driver for Windows 8.1.

Thank you for your help. I am waiting for your reply.
