HP Pavilion dv6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've been trying to find the right driver for the grafic card over two fresh Windows 7 installs in the last 6 months, the last time I messed the laptop up and the screen was turning black when streaming videos on youtube, so I decided to start again from scratch.

There's allready a driver installed but I experienced some strange flicks while using Aero effect (same as the last fresh Windows install), the flicks only seams to affect the web browsers, and it only affects the top part of the window, it's like if the Aero Windows effect failed for a second and then comes back again.

I suspect the driver is not the right one, it's either a newer version o an outdated one.

I brought this laptop almost 5 years ago, it worked perfectly all this time, never toke it to get fixed and managed to fix most issues myself. I reinstalled Windows because the disk was full of trash files and I wanted to give the laptop a clean.

Laptop: "HP Pavilion dv6", below the keybord it's writen "HP Pavilion Entertainment PC".

Laptop picture like mine

Grafic card: "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200".

I've seen how other users get the right drivers through this forum, hope someone will find the correct driver to make my laptop perfect how it used to be.

Thank's in advance.

Hi there @AZIDone

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.

As I understand it, you are seeing video problems but only on websites. I am happy to help, but can you be a bit more specific about what is happening. Is it only some websites, all websites or just a few select websites that you are having trouble with?

Please post the full product number for your notebook. See the following, if you need help with that information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Once i have that I search for the correct support pages and drivers and see what is available.

Hi, thank you for the reply and sorry for taking as long for answering, after I posted on the website I had an other problem and had to replace the LCD Screen, but it was nothing to do with this issue and I prefer not too mix it in this thread.

I wouldn't say the issue is depending on the websites, even though it could be related to the pluggins on them. What I experience is that the Windows Aero effect fails for a second and comes back, but only when I am using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, I tested and saw the same issue on both browsers. The top edge of the window should be just clear see through, but for a second it seams like the window turnes itself to Basic view and then back to Aero, like if Aero effect stoped responding just for a second, at the begging it just looked like a flick, but paying more attention I came the conclusion above.

System Information

Notebook Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC

Product Number: VY310EA#ABE

Serial Number: [Moderator edited Serial Number]

Processor Type: AMD Athlon(tm) II Dual-Core M320

Hope the information will help, I really do think it's a driver issue.

Maybe it isn't the correct way to install the drivers, but I normaly just let Windows Update install them for me, this is the first time I had any issues using this method.

Thank you again, hope we will finaly solve the problem.

Regards.
