Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just upgraded my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10

Wondering if I can either access advanced settings in my CMOS BIOS Insyde H20 Rev. 3.5 F.29

or if I can upgrade the bios to a newer one with more detailed settings.

The one I have is soooo basic.

Also, so far, my graphics cards do not allow for a second monitor to be used as extended from laptop monitor. Was fine before the upgrade to Windows 10

switchable graphics

AMD m88G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250

anD AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370

I am not a gamer... I use this in my office and need the second monitor to be recognized and be extended.

Second monitor is ViewSonic VX1935 wm-5

Don't know whether to install AMDs latest AMD Catalyst 15.7.1 or not?

System board ID 1641

AMD Phenom II N870 triple core processor

And last, the fingerprint reader so far is not detected.

Windows 10 is up to date.

All of the issues were fine in Windows 7 and I don't wish to go back to Windows 7

@skbmto,

Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forum.  What you can do at this point until there are more updates released from microsoft and the hardware vendors is run the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

If that fails to solve the issue.  The only option will be to roll back the operating system to the previous one until HP gets the drivers so that they can release them on the support page for your notebook that are for Windows 10.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

Thanks for your answer. I am thinking that HP is not going to issue any updates BIOS wise or hardware wise for my laptop in view of it's age and not under warranty.

I will just have to hope that Windows updates may be forthcoming that will allow this to work, particularly the extended monitor issue. Windows update already did update drivers for graphics but that did not allow the extended to work. I think I already said that the display works, but is just a copy basically of the laptop display. Second monitor is not "recognized" and so will not extend.

Thanks

Any new answers appreciated if someone has a solve for this graphics thing. I still do not know whether to install the AMD catalyst or if that would only make matters worse....
