After reviewing this forum, I have removed and reinstalled the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC several times, and the speakers are still not working on an HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC. Many posts address the problems that can arise from Windows updates, but I have not been able to determine what may have caused this. Is there a better way to diagnose this problem, so it can be corrected? Thank you.

My apologies for not including... The OS is Windows 7 (Home Edition). Troubleshooting the audio playback is something I already tried.  Running it again discovered no problem. I attempted the System Restore - also to no avail. Any other ideas?

Hi,

Please try these simple steps to enable Speakers in Playback devices as follows:

1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok

Regards.

Both the "Speaker and Headphones" and the "Communications Headphones" were set as default. I changed the default to only Speaker and Headphones and still no difference.

Installing this version of the CODEC did not work properly. Device manager properties indicate:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
