HP Pavilion g7-2269wm
Windows 8.1

i uninstalled the synaptics touchpad driver in my pavilion g7

cause i didn't like the live moving fingers in my face

when seeing what the settings were

it was creepy

it didn't do anything i really needed anyway

and i thought i'd be better without it...

when i rebooted it was ok

with the windows driver and program

but the mouse was too slow...

even when i set it to fastest

it would drag across the screen

not real slow, but could be better...

is there a driver i can use for this

that isn't as freaky?

i don't need the gestures or anything

just the normal functions of a mouse...

the model is g7-2269wm

thanks for anyone who can help...

Hi hannelius,

Welcome to the HP Community! I see that you are having some problems with your TouchPad. I will be happy to help you with that. There is only the one TouchPad driver and that is the Synaptics TouchPad Driver. The first thing you can try is going to your Device Manager and under Mice and other pointing devices right click on Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad then select Uninstall. Make sure you have a mouse that you can connect then reinstall the driver I linked above.

This HP document Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad which will show you how to adjust the sensitivity and disable gestures.  This should help with the sensitivity issue you are experiencing.

if i rest my hand on it next to the touchpad

all these things pop up all over the screen

then the windows screen appears

when all i was trying to do was make a new folder...

hi... thanks for answering

i uninstalled it through the control panel programs list

disabled the gestures first

worked fine except for the slight drag on the mouse...

windows update ran and put it back...

all the gestures were back so i found a reg file here

to disable them in the registry

i was so happy they were gone...

i can see how some people may like them

but i'm sure they drive a lot of people crazy

every time i breathed something would open

and cover what i was doing...

the amazing thing is windows put the driver back

i opened it and all the gestures were enabled by default again

so i disabled them and the edge swipes too

and when i closed it

my mouse speed is back and everything's fine...

thanks for the link, i saved it in case i need it

but everything's fine...
