Hi yes it can be done. I flashed mine with 7 home premium 64 installed.
You need to buy a usb floppy drive its the only way forget usb memory sticks it wont read them.
Use the win crisis tool that is recommended for pheonix bios. Extract the f.34 bios from the update in hp site. Rename the file to bios.wph and put in wincrisis directory then run wincrisis.exe.
It will make a recovery floppy.
Then plug into laptop with battery installed don't matter power on hold win key and b for 2 seconds. The floppy will read then it will beep for 3 maybe 4 min. Go have a brew and leave it.
Repeat if fails.
Laptop will power off when complete.
Wow you fixed it. You must have because its what I did and it fixed mine.
