I'm pretty sure I have installed everything correctly. Clean windows, clean hard drive. formatted everything and installed drivers first thing after windows. So it has to be something wrong with the driver really.

I am sorry the Windows 8.1 driver did not work for you as I had hoped. I have another Ralink Bluetooth driver here that was released on October 22, 2013 that I would like you to try. This is a newer driver than the previous one that was listed for your product that I hope will resolve your issue.

No luck this time either.
I guess we have to just wait and see if win 8.1 is going to get more driver-friendlier. I remember when I was using win 7 nothing bad ever happened. I wasn't using bluetooth back then (and even now) but I think the driver went OK. And I also know a lot of my friends who are having a bad time with their drivers on win 8.1.
