Hello juno14,

I saw your post and would like to help you out. Please try this from Daniel. If that is not helpful in your case try these steps for troubleshooting a fingerprint reader.

Once that is all completed if you are finding that you still cannot get what you are looking for do an uninstall and reinstall.

Hello reggiefrancoeur,

Please try these steps to see if it helps first if not there are other options available. What computer do you have? When did it stop working?

Hi Martin,

Your suggestion for aiming the installer directly the the driver folder was good, but I'm still not having my fingerprint scanner be detected (it doesn't light up at all).

My device is PID OO18, there is a driver with this number but it still doesn't work.

I'm worried about choosing non compatible driver as I had to do a clean install of windows 8.1 which was exhausting.

Maybe you or anyone here can help me out?

Hi,

This is my first post so I apologize if it shows up in the wrong area. I'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader and HP simple pass identity protection software that came with my Dv6-3121nr. For some reason all of a sudden since this morning it won't work. There are no lights on the sensor and it does not respond to any swipe/movement. When I launch the Simple pass software and go to the fingerprints section, it says the finger print reader is not connected. Interestingly when I go to device manager I don't see any biometric devices listed under there. I read on another thread that some options from under biometic devices in device manager fixed the problem.

I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling Simple pass from the recovery manager and have also uninstalled and updated the validity sensor but still no go.  Here are some other details:

Laptop model: Dv6-3121nr

Operating System: Windows 7 premium 64bit

Validiy Sensor DDK version: 4.1.139.0

I can't seem to find any other info on how to go about fixing this. Can anyone help? I install windows 8.1 then I can't use the fingerprint scanner, I think is unistall or something because I can't fint where is the program right now

Thanks a bunch!

I had the same problem, the light wouldn't go on. Also, when I slid my finger on it did nothing. So, what I did was restart my computer. It may sound dumb, but do it it really works! Hope this helps! 🙂
