I have a dv6 quad and will have owned it a year this coming february. I do not find the logo a big problem but MINE does not dim with the brightness control. If you buy a Pavilion with an energy star symbol then it means that is has already passed energy star effiency tests! What the heck does the logo have to do with it?

Hi,
There is no keyboard combination that will allow the logo illumination to be turned off. The only way to disable this is to physically disconnect the relevant cable. As an example, the logo cable for some dv7 Models can be seen on Page 76 of the Maintenance & Service Guide.
Regards,

Hi
when searching for an answer to the problem with my HP dv6 i came across your message about the logo light marking your screen. I think i have the same problem. in the bottom right hand corner of my screen there is a yellow/green blotch when the screen switches off. it started doing this yesterday and i was wondering if you managed to fix it? I've only had my laptop for about 2 months.

I haven't looked for it yet, but I hear there's a control in the BIOS. But, if not, and you're handy with a screwdriver, you can open the display and unplug the light. I have the LCD removed in the picture but it's not neccesary in order to disable the light. First pic is the illuminator panel, then the ribbon cable and connector.
