The common keyboard commands [alt-F4, etc.] are disabled on my new laptop. I have looked at the help menu and have not found a menu or box that appears to deal with this.

Hi,
You can remap keyboard using software or something like this (same for Windows 7).

BH's solution certainly deals with the problem. The bigger issue is why would a computer manufacture ship a computer with keys remapped? Those underlined keys in the menu's become meaningless, functioning keyboard commands decrease tension in the wrist and put off the on set of carpel tunnel. Well that is my view. BH was right there with answer I needed. After posting my question I discovered that fn-F4, closed browsers, but not in Spider Solitaire. That key combination brought up the Statistics window. Could the source be a rogue tech on the assemble line?
