Please install the applications listed in the post, that should make it work.

When I open the YouCam; the configuration button is greyed-out as are most of the icons. This WebCam harware did work fine, and just stopped suddenly, giving me the message:
Warning
No Webcam detected. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If
you are using an integrated camera, make surethat it is turned on.
There is nothing having to do with imaging or webcams in the Device manager.
Thanks

I am having toruble with my cyberlink integrated webcam, I already talked to an hp specialist, but had no luck, I saw this forum and tried to use the configure youcam button and it won't allow me to choose that option, infact I can't do anything with the software because it says my youcam is turned off or not installed, which it is installed. How can I find out if my webcam is turned on or off? How can I turn it on?

This link worked for me. Please try if it works for you folks.

I did the actions listed under "Webcam not listed under Device Manager" steps. No need to uninstall anything or update any drivers. Just do a force reset at the BIOS level. Follow the directions in the above link.
And from my experience so far. One precaution I would like to add: Try not to use any webcam applications when laptop is running on low battery. I think the power settings will disable it.

I purchased an HP Envy to be able to skype with family and show them around our house as opposed to being tied to a desk and can not find out how to operate the webcam.
When I go to YouCam I repeatedly get the message:
"No webcam detected. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If you are using an integrated camera, make sure that it is turned on."
I do not know how to make sure that it is turned on.
I did read the instructions provided on how to first click the configure tab in the YouCam menu, bt ca not find that and the image is not showing on my laptop....
I also read your comment that said you we might need to select webcam from a dropdown list; what dropdown list??
Coupled with the issues that we first encountered concerning wireless connection, I am starting to really regret choosing to purchase a HP.
Please help!!

check out that thread
seems that there is a common problem with a webcam connector on dv6:

Did you read my previous post?
Your webcam is not visible most probably because webcam connector is loose and most probably a little bit out of the socket.
It has to be gently pulled into the socket.
Probably also your internal mic is not working.
