I FIXED IT .......MYSELF!!  (and I am computer illiterate)

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-6b77dx Entertainment PC and recently set up Skype and the video would not work.  I went through all of the software trouble shooting with YouCam, made sure it had an updated driver, etc. and the fact remained that it wasn't even recognizing the integrated web camera.  I do transport this laptop around quite a bit and I know the camera worked when we purchased it 2 years ago.  Sooo.... I followed the advice on here, except the second link did not work.  Basically I

1. Removed the screen bezel by taking the 2 screws out under the glossy screw covers, then popping out the plastic bezel.

2.Looked around the web cam and there is a tiny 1/4" WHITE piece with colored wires coming out the bottom, that needs to be pushed back UP into the black casing for it, and BAM the camera worked instantly!!

Can you supply more information?

Are you using with an HP computer? If so, which model?

Are you running Windows 7?

If HP, you might have HP WebCam or Cyberlink YouCam.

A few things to try:

Ifyou have Windows 7, go to the Start menu Search programs and files box and enter Cyber - that should give you the Cyberlink YouCam program on the start menu. Click on it to start and go to Settings on the right of the Cyberlink screen.

Or, try entering WebCam from the Start menu and click on that program .

Hello @Genjigem,

I understand your webcam is not functioning properly, is that correct? I will be happy to help you.

The built in program that will launch your webcam is called HP Mediasmart Webcam. You can also use the this website to quickly test the webcam.

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

Hello, I own a pavilion dv6-6c 16 nr pc

When I open the program an error message pops up that says the following: "No webcam detected.  Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now.  If you are using an integrated camera make sure that it is turned on."  I have been searching for a way to turn it on  but the thing is when I first got it , it was working I took a few pictures but all of the suden nothing.  What happened ? How do I turn it on?
