HP stream laptop

My laptop has been locked by someone who says that they work for HP and now they're saying I have to pay $300 to unlock it. Is there a way for me to reboot the computer completely or unlock it on my own? As soon as I power it on it is asking for a password.

Hi! @Dnicole, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand your computer is being hacked and locked by HP imposters you need help in unlocking your PC.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Is your PC still connected to the internet?

Please disconnect your PC from the internet as there might be more damage to your PC.

As you mentioned your PC locked out completely have you tried to performing a recovery from the F11 recovery partition?

Refer this article to know how to perform recovery using the recovery partition.

Note: Performing recovery will lead to data loss.

If the issue still persists after performing recovery, Contact HP and order a set of recovery discs.

Run the recovery using the recovery discs.

Link to contact HP.

Please keep me updated.

Happy Weekend! 🙂
