Hi Guys,

 

 I have recently bought a DV4 1241t. I want to downgrade my OS to windows XP but whnever i tries it it just shows a bluescreen when windows XP tries to start. I have triesd XP sp2, sp3 with 32 bit as well as sp2 with 64 bit but not succeded. Please suggest me a solution for the same

hi,

 

go thorough this site, saysprashad.com for how to prepare XP os for vista machine.

 

first download nlite and intall SATA driver through this.

 

read my threads. u ll get all drives.

 

i hav few minor issues. like hard drive detecting as a removable disk like wise.

I have already created a CD with nlite for SATA support and for testing I have tried it and is working fine in my Dell inspiron 1525 with SATA mode on. Can you please tell me whether it can be an issue of hardware incompatibility.

 

The installation begins and all drivers are loaded (windows xp default) fine. But as soon as it shows the message Startting windows it shows the blue screen.

I have called HP care too and the execultive told me that You can't install XP as hard drive controllers are not compatible.

well, likely the ones on your dell cd are not - slipstream another one that you've downloaded using the intel-AHCI distributions on this or another dv4t thread.

 

& remember that F6-add-drivers install only works with modded drivers.

hi there. i also downgraded my new laptop dv7-1199ev to windows XP. just from curiosity how much time did your downgraded laptop need to boot to windows XP ? because i used the drivers that all used from this forum but it takes a long long long time to boot to my desktop!! (i mean the windows XP logo with the blue panel keeps loading and loading and loading for about 2 or 3 minutes until desktop appears! is it normal?? anyone who knows?

I got a 2.66 core dual and it take my pc about 2 min for it to fully boot programs and all.

it takes ages to boot to windows xp.... i do not know why...

can u give step bt step instructions on how u got it working?
