Helo all
How do I get my 8560w to pick up bluetooth devices?
Maybe it's simply not enabled but how can I check this out?
Thanks, Russ

Hi:
I can now confirm that your mobile workstation does not have built in bluetooth as the Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205 wireless card is not a combination wireless/bluetooth card.
If you want bluetooth, I would get a supported wireless/bluetooth card listed in the service manual for your mobile workstation.
It can only be one of the cards listed in the service manual and it must have the HP part number on it or it will not work.
I usually get wireless cards in used but tested and working condition on ebay and I query by the HP part number, not the model card.
I also look at the pictures and get a card where the part number is prominently displayed on the 'Replace with HP Spare' sticker on the card.
Or you can see if you can order the card directly from the HP part store.

Hi:
Did you install the applicable bluetooth driver for the model wireless card your notebook has?
You may also have to install the HP connection manager software from your PC's support and driver page in order to turn on the bluetooth radio.

Hello again.
I downloaded drivers via HP solutions but at the install stage, the machine advised that they were already loaded.
I think that the actual hardware has been taken out and not replaced. My 8560w is a seller refurb machine so this could have something to do with it.
Is it tricky to fir the necessary bluetooth parts and connect up the motherboard?
Thanks, Russ

Hi, Russ:
There is an available bluetooth module for your workstation that I was not aware of.
I assumed by the time that model series came out, the bluetooth was part of the wireless cards.
See chapter 4, page 58 of the service manual for more info.

Hello Paul
I've done a bit more on the 8560W.
The latest confusion is that having turned on my bluetooth device and asked it to seek and connect, it now appears in Devices and Printers! It also has the yellow problems triangle.
Try as I might,I cannot get further than this other than r. click and driver check. Of course, it then tells me the device needs no driver which is of course obvious!
Here's the thing and this is the important point - if it shows up in D&P, it must be connecting through bluetooth. The 8560w must therefore have the b/tooth hardwear and the problem must be drivers or some other s/ware problem.
Is there a (simple!) way of checking if my 8560w has the correct drivers? Should I try to find the existing ones, delete and reinstall?
My 8560w dates to arround 2011/12 (sn 5CB2118GK8 - productX058AV).
My b/tooth speaker is one year old Belkin Fusive.
Any advice/help would be most welcome!
Thanks, Russ

Me again - this time with an idiocy!
Running through my b/tooth processes again just now, I realise I've mislead you. Actually, the Belkin only appears in D/Printers if I plug in a b/tooth dongle.......
So I'm connecting via this not through any internal hardware. Sorry for the dopyness.
I still get ht yellow tringle thing and I can't get any further.
Perhaps a step back - is there a way to check if my 8560w has any internal b/tooth hardware? I we can establish it hasn't, then my worries about drivers and software are irrelevant.
We'd still be left with why the dongle won't produce the goods......
Thanks again, Russ

Hi, Russ:
What model wireless network card does your PC have?
Full model name and number, please.
You can find that information by going to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device category.

Hello Paul
Here's the info from D Manager:
Intel (R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
Intel (R) Centrino (R) Advance-N 6205
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adaptor
I listed all three that come up under Network Adaptor as I'm a bit unsure which one helps us. Nothing else comes up.
Russ
