Hi:
I can now confirm that your mobile workstation does not have built in bluetooth as the Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205 wireless card is not a combination wireless/bluetooth card.
If you want bluetooth, I would get a supported wireless/bluetooth card listed in the service manual for your mobile workstation.
It can only be one of the cards listed in the service manual and it must have the HP part number on it or it will not work.
I usually get wireless cards in used but tested and working condition on ebay and I query by the HP part number, not the model card.
I also look at the pictures and get a card where the part number is prominently displayed on the 'Replace with HP Spare' sticker on the card.
Or you can see if you can order the card directly from the HP part store.

Hello again and thanks so much for all this work.
It's not good news about the lack of B/tooth - especially as the seller advertised it as b/tooth enabled. Looks like I need to get back to them soon....
I had a look at your earlier post with the maintenace files link showing P 58 about B/tooth replacement and it may be a possibility. I do also take your important point about buying the correct part. Fortunately it's quoted in P 58.
I'll also try another dongle. I think the one I have here is a VERY cheap one so another might be a way forward.
Thanks again. I flag this as "solved".

You're very welcome, Russ.
I just looked at the service manual and there are no supported wireless/bluetooth combo cards.
Your only option for internal bluetooth on that workstation would be to get the optional HP bluetooth module.

Hello Paul. I'm still fishing around trying to get my HP 8560w sorted out with an internal bluetooth module.
I've had a good look at various ebay offerings and I think I'm a good bit nearer.
As it seems clear that my particular 8560w does not have a b/t module, I assume I'll must get one with the cable attached.
Looking thorugh the various HP resources, I see that the module is Part No. 537921 - 001. Could you confirm that this is also numbered BCM92070MD? Is it the same module?
One final thing. Although there is no module, I assume there will be a connection point in the machine - on the motherboard somewhere? The HP maintenance info is a bit vague on where it plugs into and where the cable goes. Could you help on these points as well?
Thanks, Russ.

Hi, Russ:
Yes that appears to be the part you need...
I assume that you need the cable too and unfortunately, I wouldn't know where it connects to.
It is remotely possible that the cable is already there and you just need the module.
I once had a nc8000 and it had the separate BT module.
Before I bought one on eBay, I checked the compartment where the module was supposed to go and there was a cable with the connector in there. Just no module.
The other thing I don't know is how that module gets fastened to the PC. I see two holes where I assume screws go to hold it in place. I would have no idea what size screws you need to fasten it to the mounting place.
Part number: 537921-001 |
Part description: Bluetooth SB module |
