I just wanted to watch a movie and so I got a snack and went upstairs to my computer (which I just bought) and I put in a movie. To my surprise nothing happened. Nothing popped up asking me if I wanted to play the movie nor did it just begin to play. I'm not happy about this and I would love if someone could help me out. Thanks a bunch!

Thank you. But unfortunately none of that worked. All signs point to broken drive.

Helllo fadeelostaz-10-,

I see that you are having a problem with the DVD drive on your computer. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.

Can you provide the model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.

What kind of problems are you having with the DVD drive?

Hi dbunch, welcome to the HP Forums. When making a post, it is best to provide as much device information, and as many details as you can. That is to say in this case, provide the computer model number, and the DVD player model number as well. Did this DVD player come installed in the notebook, or did you purchase one separately?  What version of Windows is installed on your computer? What are you trying to play? Have you tried movies, music and data? Does your computer see the DVD drive?
