I have to hard reset my Pavilion g7 Notebook PC everytime I have to restart it, or it hangs on blackscreen. My lights all light up on my keyboard and then just flash. If I unplug it and plug back in right away, SOMETIMES it will restart. After I do get it to restart it will sit on the "Press ESC for menu" screen for anywhere from five minutes to 15 minutes before it goes to Windows welcome page. My OS is Windows 7, any help will be appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I recommend you run a system diagnostic, in particular a hard drive test.
The next time you get the "Press ESC for menu" screen. Hit the ESC key.
When the Startup menu is displayed hit the F2 key.

Hi y2ken, I have done all that, I have ran and re-ran all diagnostics, i bought a new hard drive, installed it, same thing happened. I thought maybe ( before hard reset ), it was a lid switch, i hooked it up to a eternal monitor, same thing. i even got desperate, went to the geek squad...i won't go any further with that...I just cannot figure it out. Can the Bios be screwed up? Thanks to you for responding!

There are several SKU's within the G7 model line. Please check for your specific model / product number. Use your model / product number to check for a BIOS update on the software download page for you system.
How did you re-installl windows on your new hard drive? Clone? HP System Recovery Disks? Self Created Recovery disk? If you cloned or used self-created recovery disks you may have just re-introduced any system file errors onto the new hard drive.
Have you tried running Check Disk to repair any hard disk errors?

I just bought the new hard drive to see if that was my problem, when I saw that I had the same problem, I put my original HD back in and returned the one I didnt need. I want to put Windows 8 on this laptop, do you think I should go get another hard drive and not chance it on this one? I have done the check disc, nothing there either..

I would go into BIOS/UEFI and reset everything back to the default settings.
BIOS menus vary so I cannot give you specific instructions.
Don't mess around with any of the other settings.
But there is usually a clearly labeled option to return the BIOS to default settings.
To access the BIOS Setup, turn on the computer and repeatedly press the ESC key to enter the Startup Menu, and then press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup utility.
I also suggest you go the to Software Download page for your system and check for a BIOS update.
You haven't posted your Model/Product # yet.
