Hi FresaLatte,
You can try the Microsoft FixIt tool to fix audio issues. If that doesn't work then I suggest that you contact HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or visit this link if you are outside North America.

Hi FresaLatte,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I will be happy to help with your audio issue. Assuming that you are still using Windows 7 that came with the notebook you can use the HP Recovery Manager to Restore Original Software and Drivers. You can use that to restore the IDT High Definition Audio driver. If you are using Windows 8 try installing this driver. Let me know how it goes.

Hi FresaLatte,
If you don't have the recovery manager then try installing the the IDT High Definition Audio driver manually.

Hi giren2,
Welcome to the HP Community! I see that you are having some issues installing your sound drivers. Are you getting an error message when try to install them. What operating system are you using? What is your product number?

thank you for your help
ii got this pc from my newphew who had put windows 7 on it so the sound would not work so they said if i was to put back to vista 64 bit the original as new it would work.
so i did but when you download the driver it say's exit error:error=device object not presant, restart system and try again but the same message come's back.
what object they are talking about i do not know.
if you click on the link from hp to reconize your product it starts but then shuts down and says pc not reconized.
best regards
bill brown
ps thanks
