It worked Windows 7 home premium installed
Installed drivers with secondary driver cd and hp supplemental cd
Got computer to recognize the wireless card
However after installing all drivers and updates on hp
Device manager shows escalation point on the lan card
And the pci card plus 3 usb ports
Also computer will not install windows updates
Checked services.msc and Windows installer and Windows updates service both automatic and started.
Tried using Microsoft fix it Windows update troubleshooter. Says fixed but still will not install updates . Shows bar checking for updates but after 3 hours nothing . Restart and try again for updates . Same result.
I was able to get antivirus installed and updated. So not sure what's up with lab, pci, usb and Windows updates. Next steps ?

Hey @Ben71,
You can go here for the drivers page. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv7-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/514...
You could try in Device Manager right clicking on the drivers and updating them manually.
Thanks.

This says that the Windows installer service can't be reached. Even though the service is running. I have unregistered the service and re registered it. I have followed steps to uninstall and reinstall Windows installer service .
Still same issue. This started after I installed Norton virus, and ms office, and registry cleaner etc. unable to install iTunes and printer software due to Windows installer service.
