Pavilion 17-e016dx
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

At start up the following error message appears in a small window:

AMD EEU Client: atieclxx.exe-application error. The instruction at 0x6ac0e7f9 referenced memory at 0x00000020 could not be read.

Click OK to continue.

What does that all mean? What do I do to fix the problem?

Thanks

Hello @kingharry1,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!

I read your post about the memory issue, and wanted to assist you!

The error is indicating a memory issue, that seems to be related to your Graphics Card.  Have you made any software or hardware changes to your notebook recently?  In the meantime, try reviewing the following documents, and let me know how it goes:

HP PCs - Error Messages Display on a Blue Screen during Startup or Boot (Windows 10, 8, 7)

HP PCs - Error Messages Display on a Black Screen during Startup or Boot (Windows 10, 8, 7)

Also, here are a few additional resources that may be helpful:

What is atieclxx.exe?

AMD EEU Client: atieclxx.exe - Application Error

(These are not HP supported Web sites).
