I have HP DV6t Laptop with windows 7 home premium.
for a reason I don't know my keyboard suddenly became stuck to shortcut keys. For example if I press "p" it would open the printing screen rather than typing p. Also my mouse acts like control key is pressed - for example if I go through my email clicking on them to read them, it would select all of the emails that I click on.
The only way I found to somewhat reverse this is hitting "control + alt + delete" and select cancel , then I can type and my mouse would work as it's supposed to. But in this case my control key stops working for example if I hit "control + f" to open the find window in the browser nothing would happen.
any help would be greately appreciated as I like my keyboard with it's normal functions back.

I have this problem for some time now. I noticed that in my case this happens after my computer comes back from standby mode with a remote desktop session still active.
After a reboot the problem is gone.
My first thought was that is had something to do with a special keyboard input option in Windows 7.
"Control Panel\Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center\Make the keyboard easier to use"
But nothing is marked there.

Hi,
Mine does this all the time as well. The 'Windows' key has actually broken off for no apparent reason. I wonder if this could be the case?
I try typing my essays for Uni and sometimes I end up logging myself out and I can't even log back in to the laptop due to sticky keys being stuck.
This is extremely frustrating and I am beginning to lose my patience. Feel like taking it back to where I bought it from and telling them that it's a pile of junk, either that or I uninstall Windows 8, which seems to be where the problem is stemming from.
If anyone has any suggestions of what I could do resolve this problem let me know. I've turned the hotkey's off on the laptop manually, yet it seems to keep happening.
Thanks,
Natasha
