I  did all the things that were listed.  NOTHING worked, it was a hardware issure for sure, but what piece?? I actually was faced with throw this computer away or send it to HP to be fixed as my local computer guy could not fix it. My computer was out of warrentee post 9 months. I found a phone number to HP for a one time repair option and took it. They replaced motherboard, processor, speakers, keyboard and bottom battery cover. Now it works.

Thanks for trying all.

This has happened to me twice on my HP Pavilion dv6-2157us laptop.  I found somewhere on the internet about removing the battery.  I've done this.  If I remove the battery and leave it out for about 1/2 hour then re-insert, the laptop boots up.

If I re-insert battery right away, I still an issue.  You definitely have to wait awhile before putting the battery back into the laptop.

My windows 7 G62 notebook was doing the same thing just wanted to say thank you i tried everything to get it to work called the support and they wanted me to buy a warranty and ship it in then I found this page where ccccccccccccc said "Hit the power button for 30 seconds. Input just the ac adapter (not the battery) press power, let go... hit the F10 button continously every second. "tried and it worked! Thanks you saved me a load of money!

Had to make an account just to post it, tried everything and nothing had worked, happened to me a few months ago, sent away to HP they "repaired" it (took two frustrating months) got it back used for 3 hour and it happened again.... Turned it off for a few hours came back and it worked, tried again today and same problem held down Fn and spammed the f2 button like said and it started up straight away, definately give this a try! blow drying, air compressing none of that worked but this did!?

Could u tell me what the number is for HP that u used and how much they charged you? My computer went out  the month my warrenty ran out. I can get it to turn on  by powering on pc, covering up the vent holes, waiting a while . When I turn it off and back on, it comes on and works great every time. It is a mistery. Thank u

My sister's DV7 is experiencing the same symptoms as everyone else's on this forum topic. The fans spin up, but the screen stays blank and the caps lock button blinks once every four seconds.

I followed the link to the blink codes, which said that one blink means CPU failure. I spent hours replacing the CPU, only to get exactly the same blink. I know both CPUs couldn't possibly have failed. So if it isn't the CPU that's at fault, what could it be? And why would it be blinking that it IS the CPU that is the problem?

I wanted to do it myself to avoid calling the hotline for help. I refuse to spend money to have it shipped across the country, because I am not in a town that has easy access to any couriors. Just keep that in mind.
