A couple of minutes after my laptop turns on it makes a small "pop" sound and the screen goes black then it starts to turn itself on again. I log in fine and it loads my desktop then it turns off again within a couple of minutes.
Before the first time it happened, a message came up when I turned it on before Windows started loading saying something about BIOS and asking if I wanted to reboot but I can't remember the details. I didn't do anything and it carried on starting up fine then the problem started happening 5 minutes later.
The laptop is 4 months old and the battery was fully charged. I tried using it while charging and there was no difference.
Now I can't get it to turn on at all

Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums. That pop sound is a component on the board reaching a limit and causing the system to go down. This problem will require a repair. Here is the link so you can contact the correct department at HP Support.
