The laptop screen will blank to a white screen when the screen is rotated to around 90 degrres or more. ( a ususal viewing angle)  If the sc reen is rotated to 30 degrees the laptop works fine and the screen is fine. Unfortuantely I can not work with the screen almost fully closed.  Computer microcenter says it is the logic board but the problem seems so mechanical in nature.  MAchine works well otherwise. Logic board repair too costly for a 4 year old laptop. Any suggestions or ideas.

Hi klon5,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I saw your post regarding the problems with your display screen on your laptop. You mentioned rotating the screen do you mean the angle the screen is on or are you physical lifting and rotating the laptop? If it is the angle of the screen it could be something pinching a wire or something else in the inside causing the screen to go. I have seen this in the past. If you can give me your product number I can provide you with a manual so you can take it apart and check.

Thanks for the reply. I said I rotate the screen. Perhaps I should say when I open the laptop and bring the screen to a 90 degree position.  The manual would be most helpful.  product WA688UA#ABA    model dv4-2167sb.

Once I get the screen to be visible after playing with the angle- open and close a little- the laptop works perfectly.

Hi klon5,

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide. On page 4-28 there a section on removing the display assembly but you might have to look at a couple of different places to check for pinched cables. This guide should help you.
