First of all sorry for my english 🙂

I have a DV6541ev laptop and since yesterday it doesn't power up.

When i press the power button the lights turn on for less than a second and then the computer turn off.

The power light where the power cord is connected to the laptop lights up.

Tried the hard reset but nothis happend.

Unfortunately my battery is "dead" for a long time and i can't check if i can power it on with the battery only.

Also in the past, the ac adaptor lose the contact with the laptop and i had to wriggle the cord till the contact is standy.

Could be a motherboard issue or an issue with the Ac Dc Jack?

Please help me

Thanks in advance

A pc technician checked my laptop..and he said that the motherboard is burned up/bad.

I confirmed that from others too.

I don´t gonna replace it cause it´s not worth the monay.

i´m gonna buy a new laptop and sorry, it´s not gonna be a HP.

According to this document the problem is caused by the power adapter and might need to be replaced.

My situation (when connected to external power source)

1. with battery inserted

-power adapter connection to the computer is loose

-when connection is stable(Power indicator is lit -fig4),laptop won't power on
-power led  blinks constantly

2. with battery removed

-power adapter connection to the computer is loose
-when connection is stable(Power indicator is lit -fig4),laptop won't power on

-power led  is off

Figure 4: Power indicator light.

Now i'm searching for a battery or an ac adapter to check if laptop powers on.

Today i tried with another adapter but the result was dispointing :Crying:

The computer still does the same. The lights blink for a while and that's all.

Power indicator light is lit.

I know for sure that the battery is not causing the problem.

So what's my options now?

I think that the motherboard contact is burned-up or the whole motherboard.

Hello,

I understand when you attempt to turn your laptop on it just comes on for a split second then it turns itself off.

Looks like you have already tried a second ac adapter and that does nothing. If the battery is dead that means it hasn’t been getting a charge. Also if you have been wiggling the ac pin in the port in the past it sounds like the ac jack pin inside the PC is bad and needs to be repaired/replaced.

My recommendation would be to contact HP total care over the phone. If the PC is still under warranty it is possible to get repaired. If the warranty is expired they may be able to provide you some repair options.

You can also take the PC somewhere locally (ex. Best Buy or Staples) some sort of location that has onsite tech support.

You pretty much have exhausted all of the troubleshooting steps you can do for this issue.

Please respond back if this information helps.

Thanks
