Hi,
Have you tried tapping f11 key as soon as you power on laptop to enter Recovery console and try factory reset from here?
Could you perform extensive hard drive and memory tests from System Diagnostics UEFI/BIOS by tapping f2 key as soon as you power on laptop?
Which operating system came pre installed in your laptop?
Have you created HP Recovery USB using HP Recovery Manager after first setup of this notebook?
Regards
Visruth

Hi.
Thanks for the reply, I tried to do an extensive hard disk test and after a few seconds i got an error saying it had failed and system BIOS rollback failed. I have also tried resetting from Safe mode with command prompt which didnt let me.

1) Did the error say Hard drive failed?
2) Which operating system came pre installed in your laptop?
3) Have you created HP Recovery USB using HP Recovery Manager after first setup of this notebook?
4) What is the exact model name, product number of your laptop?

Thank you.
Please replace hard drive. Old hard drive had failed, and is not bootable anymore.
Any branded 2.5 inch SATA hard drive/SSD would be enough. Western digital, HGST travelstar are good brands of HDD. Samsung 850 Evo SSD is another good one if you're looking for SSD
You can clean install Windows 7 Home Premium using Paul's suggestion here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/want-windows-7-back/td-p/592555...
