So I had this issue with my HP laptop for a while now. My mouse freezes randomly when I'm using my touch pad, making me have to close my laptop and open it again for my touch pad to start working, this sometimes can take a while for it to start back working. Someone please tell me what to do this is becoming really annoying when i have to keep closing my laptop to get my touchpad to stop freezing.
(P.S my computer mouse works fine when i plug in a mouse so i know my touch pad is the promblem here.)

Hi Chanellex,
Thank you for the product number. Hope you had a good weekend. I have included the link to the driver for your TouchPad below. Start by making sure that the original driver is removed. Go to your Device Manager and you are looking for your Synaptics TouchPad or something similar. Right click and uninstall. Then install the link below. Please, note use this method if you have an external mouse, if you don't just install the software.

Hi Chanellx,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I will be happy to help but I will need some additional information. What is your product number? What operating system are you running? This could be something simple as just needing the driver reinstalled.
Find your product number on a notebook:

Finding your OS:

Hi Chanellex,
I will actually need your product number. You can find that in the link I provide my previous post. There are several different models in the Pavilion dv5 series so that won't allow me to find the proper drivers for your computer.

Hi Cman13,
I understand the Touchpad just freezes and you have to restart to get it going again.
Here is a link to an update that will help with that.
Hope it helps.
Thanks.

Help. I also have similar problems with my HP Probook 4540s touch pad.
I started noticing the problem after I updated my OS to Windows 8.1 a few days ago.
Can I get some help here, please. Thanks.
my serial number is 2CE3392682
