personally  I would take it back and get a refund or exchange it for a Dell or a Toshiba.   HPs will all have this problem and it will bite you in the rear again, especially after the warranty is up.

sorry Ree,  please give us more info on your laptop-- like what is the model number?  how old is it ?  is it still in warranty?

how was it shutdown the last time you were able to use it--was it a normal shutdown?  anything unsual about how it operated and/or shutdown.   with the AC adapter connected does the battery charge status light show torange or blue?

I understand with ac adapter plugged in the LED light on the dc power jack is glowing orange which is telling you the ac adapter is working.

has the laptop been running abnormally hotter than usual??   if still in warranty  quickly take in for warranty repair or replacement

HP laptops have this generic design issue with sometimes going into deep or unrecoverable sleep.   get you a Dell or Toshiba next time ...they will be more reliable

give us more data so we can better help.

you may have to try and reset Bios by removing the  cmos battery.  I have had success randomly doing this and getting it to wake up out of deep sleep mode or locked up in sleep mode.

you need to give us more details on your problem  but we must presume it will not turn on when power button pushed.  what model is it and how old is your laptop.??   anything unusual about the way it last powered down.   ??  do any lights come on when you  plug the ac adapter in or when you push the power button do you hear the fan try to turn on??  does the battery charging light come on.   ??? does the cap locks button light up when depressed??

sounds like you are in the market to buy another laptop   get a dell or toshiba this time.
