Hi,

I still need a floppy to do that though right? Am back on xp and have the ROMPAQ. Tried to create a bootable cd and usb stick using a virtual floppy drive but dont know how to do it.

The first step is to follow all of the instructions on this web page to create a  bootable DOS USB  stick. Post here when you have completed this step and I will provide links and instructions to the following steps.

Update:  do you still have the 😧 recovery partition on your hard disk? If you do then there is software located in the partition that will make updating the BIOS quite simple.

Hi again,

I forgot about the BIOS update. Just went for the custom installation of Widows 7 again and installed the nation semiconductor macphyter driver first thing, and it worked 😄

Opened the door to Windows Update and the sound. Thanks a lot for your help!

Windows 7 runs great on this old Pavilion ze5700 with 1GB RAM, no aero though of course but woooo 😄

Thanks again,

Ash

Marking your own reply as the solution when the solution came from another member's post does not help other forum members, They could be searching for the solution for the same problem with the same hardware and OS as yours. We are here to help each other out.

You can unmark your post and mark the proper one since you are the original author of the thread.

Sorry about that, I thought it was just an overall acceptance of solution not that exact post. Have rectified it now anyway. Thanks again Erico.
