Ahh! great thanks. I stupidly installed both. If I unistall both and try again, I guess that will work. Its crazy HP dont provide drivers for windows 7. Thank god there is someone like you out there who can help us! Have a great day.

Many thanks,
Scott.

You're very welcome, Scott.

If uninstalling/reinstalling only the AMD graphics driver doesn't work, then you will have to reinstall W7 and only use the AMD graphics driver the second time around.

Sometimes these video drivers are very touchy.

In reference to HP not having Windows 7 drivers, it is their policy to only support their consumer PC's for the current windows operating system in effect at the time of the PC's manufacture--which is now W8.

They provide support for their business PC's for older operating systems.

Some other PC manufacturers do the same thing, not just HP.

You have a great day too!

Best Regards,

Paul

Paul!

I don't know who you are, or if this message will reach you with how old this thread seems to be, but I just registered on this forum to THANK you.

I have installed w7 on w8 pcs before, never had a problem.  Then I went to do a friend's HP ENVY and I thought I'd SCREWED everything!

Then I found your post where you found the appropriate drivers, and thank the gods of computing, I can connect the thing to the internet and everything.

You are my hero of the night.  It is appreciated tremendously.  I feel like I should send you money or something.

You're very welcome.

I am glad that the information I have provided was of help to you, and that is payment enough.

Well it appears I spoke too soon.  I have all the drivers I need except two:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C22&SUBSYS_2ADC103C&REV_05

PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_8241&SUBSYS_2ADC103C&REV_02

Have googled them to death, can't find anything anywhere, can you help?

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

For the first one, install this driver:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=816&DwnldID=20775&keyword=chipset+ins...

For the second one, try this driver.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-95539-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=

If that usb 3 controller doesn't work, then the hardware ID states it is for a texas instruments usb 3.0 controller, but the only ones I know of are for HP desktop PC's.

The first was perfect.

The second did not work.  The second's alternative "did not install correctly."  It wants me to use "settings which are compatible with this version of windows."

I am on W7 64 bit, so, I'm lost, and can't use the usb ports.

What about the third one?

While it is a desktop driver, the hardware may be the same.

When you google the hardware ID of PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_8241, here is what you get, and that is the last driver I posted.

What I got was the error message I spelled out.  Tells me to use settings compatible with this version of windows.

It is W7 64bit though.  (?)

Try manually installing the driver.

Go to the device manager and click on the usb controller needing drivers.

Click on the driver tab, click on update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for software and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp57873.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

If that doesn't work, be connected to the internet and try the automatic search and hope that windows update finds the driver.

That must be a brand new model (not a m6-1164ca), and HP has used the TI USB 3.0 controller in it for some reason, and there are no HP business notebooks using that hardware.

Accordingly, there are no W7 drivers for it.

As newer models are rolled out, it will become increasingly difficult to find drivers for other operating systems unless HP produces a business model with the same hardware.

They normally support business models for other windows operating systems.

You may also want to seach Dell, Gateway, Asus or the Lenovo support sites and see if they are using TI usb 3.0 controllers for any of their notebooks, and have W7 drivers for it.

That is the best I can do.
