No hard drive found when installing Windows 7

Yep. there is a failure of some kind.

Put the drivers I attached without any folders onto a FDD and use a USB FDD and manually select the driver after you hit the F6 key. Make sure you plug the USB FDD into an available USB 2 port.

A USB flash drive will not work. I've tried it.  I even named my USB flash drive drive a:\ and it still didn't work.

Now remember...windows will continue to load files after you hit the F6 key but at a short interval later it will ping your USB FDD and you will see a screen to select the driver.

I think you have to select 's' and then the window appears with the list of drivers.

Do not remove the FDD until XP has installed. It pings it a time or two more during the installation process.

I tried as you mentioned and hit the F6 key a lot but it isn't loading any screens. Tried it two times.

I've never had a problem with the FDD method.

I once tried slipstreaming the XP drivers using WXP pro 64 bit and was unable to get it to work.

I got the blue screen of death.

Using the FDD and the 64 bit XP sata drivers, I had no problem installing XP x64.

I've been many times successful with the 32 bit drivers and a FDD as well.

I guess I got lucky with the one slipstreaming job I did.

Are you putting the USB FDD in a USB 2 port?

I don't think it will read from a usb 3 port when not in windows.

And like I wrote earlier nothing happens exactly after you hit the F6 key. Windows continues on for a while loading files and then stops.

But am not getting this good. Even without a USB FDD if I hit the F6 key it is not loading any screens. Should I burn the DVD again or is there any way to create a bootable slipstreamed USB FDD?

Yes I am putting the USB FDD on a USB 2.0 port. I tried it on USB FDD and USB Pendrive too. But, this is not working 😞 Totally disappointed with HP:smileysad:

I have never tried hitting the F6 key when I didn't have a usb fdd plugged in.

If your slipstreaming job was done right, watch all the files windows is loading and you will see the slipstreamed sata drivers get loaded during the automatic run.

You have enabled legacy mode in the BIOS and disabled secure boot too?

Its going on loading and finally it ends up with the screen showing Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices installed in your system...etc...

No, I watched it carefully but it isn't showing even a single driver 😞
