I just got this laptop and I can't figure out how to use a number keypad. On my past laptops all I had to do was to press the function key and I would be able to access the numbers on the U, I, O,... >, ? keys. This keyboard doesn't even show the numbers on those keys. I'm hoping someone tells me there's a way around it, because I would be very annoyed if there's no number pad on this laptop.

Hello @VirginiaC,
Welcome back to the HP Forums!
I have read your post and understand that you are trying to enter ASCII without a number pad on your HP Envy 13. I have researched the issue and have come up with a possible resolution. As noted earlier, this model does not have a normal number pad layout, but there are two possible ways to do this.
Method 1
1. Open the On-Screen Keyboard
2. Click the options key on the On-Screen Keyboard
3. Turn on the Numeric pad
4. Enable the Num-lock key
5. Use your alt key and the on-screen numpad as you would a physical one
Method 2
1. use the Search on your computer for "Character Map"
2. open it
3. copy and paste the according characters into the program you are using
If the steps do not help you resolve the issue, try restoring the BIOS and then check for windows updates. For more specific information please provide your product model using this link "Find my Product".

Hi,
They should be clearly labeled 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0. This machine does not have normal numpad layout. If you wish, you can use:

They're not labeled. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the numbers all along the second row of the keyboard, but the numbers that should be on the M , . / J K L ; U I O P 7 8 9 0, and usually available pressing the function key on other laptops.
