HI @evans89lfc,
Thank you for your reply.
As the hardware diagnostics have all passed and updating the drivers did not help, it is most likely on the motherboard.
You can contact HP support for confirmation. They can remotely connect to your system to help find and fix issues and arrange for service if deemed necessary.
If you are out of warranty a local repair shop would be able to look at it and provide you an estimate for any needed repairs.
Best of Luck!
Please let me know the outcome.

After speaking to HP support, the problem seems to be that the laptop has two graphics, Intel chip and a Nivida graphics card, the problem is an Intel one, first thing that was done is in the device manager, on the intel driver, do a driver update via device manager and select search online.
then in the nvidia control panel under the 3d settings, there is an option that has automatic, click on the drop down menu and select the Nvidia as the main option.
My understanding of the problem is that when playing games windows will select the Nivida Graphics Card, when doing normal things like browsing the internet or using an office program the PC will use Intel, but the reason that the display drivers crashes is when Nvidia hands back the graphics role back to Intel it crashes the display driver.
What has been done is basically the PC will ignore the Intel Graphics and just use Nivdia card only.
I re-booted my device while HP support were still on the phone, and still get the WHEA-Logger logged in the event viewer straight away.
I am going to be run the laptop through the test via playing games (Sim City) and see if i get the display driver crash if i do i am be calling HP back.
Thanks for your help on this issue, will see how far i get.

@sparkles1
i believe that the graphics problem was misleading me in regards to the PCI Express Root Port error, after further research, i believe that the problem is due to the WLAN module, on the unit, i have re-installed all of the chipset drivers via device manager and still getting no further, is there any advice.
i have contacted Intel direct as it seems to be there problem with the Dual Band Wireless-AC.

Hi @evans89lfc,
Thank you for your reply.
I grasp that you have determined it is the wireless card that is causing the issue and not the graphic cards.
You have tried reinstalling the network and chipset drivers, but there was no change.
When I checked the driver page for your notebook, I noted that updates were done yesterday and today. Would you check to be sure that you have that network driver installed?
