I have an HP Probook 6540b that has this same issue...

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_1722103C&REV_06
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_1722103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_0780

Can anyone point me to the correct drivers to fix issue...

I tried the Intel Management Engine Components driver sp48063 and it does not install correctly...

Thanks in advance

Jason

Hi, Jason:

The IMEI driver on your notebook's support and driver page is the correct version.

Try installing it manually.

Click on the PCI Simple Comms controller in the device manager. Click on the driver tab.

Click on update driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software method and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp48063.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Thanks for the quick reply...

In the Device Manager I have "Unknown Device" listed in other devices, when I update the driver and select the location etc.. as suggested...

I get "Windows found driver..." for the Intel Management Engine Inteface etc...

But then it says "The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name"

Not sure what else to do!!

Any other advice?

Again the device shows this for the Hardware ID:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_1722103C&REV_06
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_1722103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_0780

Thanks,

Jason

Hi! Paul - Hope you're still on the line!  I've got a PCI Simple Communications Controller on a dc5800sff running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

The Hardware ID's:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29D4&SUBSYS_281E103C&REV_02

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29D4&SUBSYS_281E103C

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29D4&CC_078000

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29D4&CC_0780

I Believe I have the Hardware ID's Correct.

And also, if you can, tell me what piece of Hardware it actually is!?!

Kind Regards,  Jeff

You're very welcome, Jason.

I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions you can try.

I didn't think the unknown device would have the same hardware ID as the PCI Simple Communications Controller had.

Vidya,

I downloaded and installed the software from the 'Link' you provided; after re-boot the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" disappeared (Altogether!) from my system hardware devices!  Now, there is one device that 'cannot start' (code 10).  That device is Intel Management Engine Interface.  ALSO, it's 'Hardware ID' is identical to the (now) missing 'PCI Simple Communications Controller'.  Identical Hardware ID!  Do I have a problem?  Everything seems to be working all right!

Regards, Jeff
