Hello m2khan,
I see that you are having problems with the fingerprint reader on your HP computer. I have a couple of suggestions that may help with this issue.
Here is a link to some troubleshooting steps that may help with this problem. Follow the steps in the link and let me know what happens.
If that does not help I would suggest trying to install the Windows 7 drivers for the fingerprint reader using the steps in this link.

Hello stephenalec.
You should try removing the driver and resetting the computer. Try the following.
- Go to your Device Manager and expand the "Biometric" section.
- Right cilck on your fingerprint reader and select Uninstall.
- Once the device is uninstalled shut down your computer.
- Remove the battery and AC power.
- Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds three times.
- Replace the battery and AC power.
- Power on the notebook and allow Windows to reinstall the driver.
- Post the result.
Have a great weekend! I'll keep an eye out for the results.

I did all of your instructions, and the laptop had a pop up window that the sensor is now installed. but apparently, the sensor still does not work and there is no light poping like it usually does. when I checked in the control panel - biometric device. it says that "windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer. you might need to attach your device or install device drivers." what does this mean?
also thank you for replying.

What is the product number for your notebook? This document can show you where it is located. I can use this information to give you instructions on how to disassemble the notebook.
Have a wonderful day.
