ok done that, but in my date and time settings, I have it set to gmt so why was it no longer linked? So far so good, the time seems to be changing on my desktop .... will try a few more times as you suggest, then will check bios (listen to me like I know what I'm talking about :smileytongue:)
Well, clock seems to be keeping up now, bios ok so that's great! It's still taking a full five minutes to wake up though, will see if overall performance is improved over the next 24 hours, thank you so much for your time. I so hope that, that was the problem, don't much fancy taking it apart

Back to acting up again, date and time have kept up, but after about 20mins work, wepages are 'not responding' and then computer freezes. Even if I restart it, it responds extreemly slowly and makes a skritching noise, and in fact this time, has taken 20 mins and is still not properly awake. Have I got a hardware problem? Please help (I am currently on our desktop as can't get in on the laptop)

Hello RedBerry:
You have a businesses computer. This forum is for home users computers. Now last night I was able to excess businesses computers website pages. Business computer's have a totally different operating system then your standard evey day computers do. Here is your computer's series home page. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=4146768&cc=us&taskId=... That is we start from It is asking for specific operating Windows and bit information. If you can you provide the bit information Windows 7 ?? bit. Then I can review your computer's correct procedures and the best solution in getting rid of this bad Malware/visus. What you have been discribing is just that. In the mean time please back up all your personnel files if you can also copy down any products keys you have from installed software on your computer like Windows 7 and Microsoft Office software. I was surprised the other poster did not pick up on this. Do not worry this isn't a hardware issue. Just a temporary set back. I need to read your computer's steps on how to perform recoveries first. There isn't any anti virus on the market that can protect your from virurs and malware some do get by. Like in your case. I know this attack has corrupted your Internet Explorer that explains the freeze up and the clock issue. frrw

Its not a business computer, its my home computer! Also, the folk at the AVAST forum have removed all malware and virus, its the damage that's left that I don't know what to do about. I have run Malware bytes every 2 weeks for the last few years, and I know some wretched things still get through, which is why I went to them to clean my system. However, as its still acting up, I don't know what to do now, I can't afford to buy another whole computer.
I've just had some thought though, I think you may have something about the internet explorer being damaged, because I think it works fine until i go online - will test it out tomorrow, when its had a long enough rest If this is the case, can it be fixed?
The operating system is windows 7, 64 bit
Yep seems to work fine offline
