This Ultra g1a is connected to a 280W thunderbolt dock via USB-C.
I realize that the USB-C is not delivering the full advertised wattage because of the barrel plug not being used.
What dock should be used with these notebooks?

Hi @123cadmaster,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
The notification you're seeing is expected when the notebook is connected to the dock using only the USB-C connection and the notebook requires more power.
For the HP EliteBook Ultra G1a, I recommend using an HP high-power dock designed for this type of system:
Recommended dock
HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 with Combo Cable
The 280W G4 can provide:
- Up to 100W through USB-C alone
- Up to 230W to support HP platforms when the 280W power supply and combo cable are used
The combo cable provides both the Thunderbolt/USB-C connection and the additional power connection, allowing the notebook to receive the higher available power.
HP also now offers the HP Thunderbolt 4 Ultra 280W G6 Dock, which supports up to 280W through its 4.5 mm power connection or up to 180W through Thunderbolt 4 on systems supporting the required PD 3.1 specification.
If you provide the exact product number of the Ultra G1a, I can verify the recommended dock and required power configuration for that specific notebook.
Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
