Hi
I'm from Poland and my english is not really good:smileyhappy:.
I have got problem with sound on my HP Probok 6560b
Speakers are cracking while I watch films, listen to the music doesn't matter while i switch on something with sound speakers are cracking. They are cracking while I listen loud or quiet dosen't matter
I update drivers, programmes, bios everything and it is still happens.
In my opinion speakers are good(membrane is good) not broken beacuse when speakers are broken cracking should be on that frequncy speakers can't use.But my notebook can play all freqency and don't crack.
I try to say cracking is not all time I for example listen to the music cracking is sometimes(about 30 times on 4 min song)

Hi,
I have the same problem with my HP ProBook 6560b (LG657EA), the sound had random rumble noise when play music or movies.
I update all firmware, drivers and software. Now, my laptop is up to date (Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and all following Windows Updates, latest drivers and software installed using HP Update Software tool).
The sound problem persists.
I still search a solution.

I have a 6460b, and have the same or a similar issue. The audio hesitation and distortion is due to delayed procedure call (DPC) spikes.
See this link:
And this one:
http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140263-how-to-get-the-cause-of-high-cpu-usage-by-dpc-interrupt/
If you install and run either of the two tools (DPC Latency Checker and LatencyMon) mentioned in the first link, you can confirm the issue.
The second link (also given in the first one) gives instructions on how to troubleshoot.

In my case, the problem turned out to be the HP Power Assistant, version 2.0.5.1. I killed the app and the problem stopped. I did a "repair" reinstallation, but no change in behavior resulted so I removed it entirely.
I did not reinstall it to see if that would fix the problem, nor did I reinstall the earlier version on the HP Driver Recovery CD. The Microsoft power controls seem to be perfectly adequate. Not much value added by HPPA.

With respect to not recommending hp, I think it's Tweedledum and Tweedledee. I have friends who work Tier 2 customer support for another major PC vendor, and they tell me that it's typical for a Tier 1 tech, when s/he doesn't know what the problem is, to have the customer either carry in or mail back the unit for service where the hard drive will be wiped and the O/S restored.
Short answer -- I don't know of ANY vendor with good Tier 1 support. ("Good" being they automatically elevate a problem to Tier 2 when they don't know and can't find the answer.)
What DOES surprise me about hp -- they have 7,000-plus gripes about audio distortion issues on laptops, across multiple products, posted on these hp-sponsored forums and they can't bother to get a clue.

Exactly the same symptoms here as well. Stuttering audio every 30 seconds. The mouse would hesitate momentarily as well. I used DPC Latency checker (software utility) to confirm the problem occured every 30 seconds like clockwork. Uninstalled HP Power Assist and the problem is 100% solved! Audio is now as smooth as silk! When will HP learn to just sell laptops without all the garbage to "help" users....

Hi everyone, i have a 4720s probook and i have the same problem with sound, wether im playing music watching things on youtube etc. The cracking manifests like the music or the video is kind of slowing down for a couple of seconds every now and then. Also the problem occurs on EVERY startup; the windows 7 startup melody lasts about 1.5 times the normal because of the distorted prolongation...ive read somewhere that this might be conected with some wlan issues and i have noticed whenever i switch on/of the adapter on my probook while listening to music the distortion increases heavily!
So I saw you people were talking about uninstalling hp power assist but the problem is i cant find it on my computer therefor i cant uninstall it. Need help 🙂
